Nolan White

Nolan has been intrigued by photography and cameras since an early age. Like many of you, his first exposure was to his parent's camera. Theirs was a Canon AE-1, a very popular film camera in its day. Like anything nice owned by your parents, the camera was off limits. Touch it and you felt like your life, or at least your limbs, were in the balance. It would make an appearance for the popular family holidays, magically appearing from its special bag to take its place on the tripod. From on high it demanded attention, capturing the room’s interest, if only for just a few moments.
The camera always introduced a few popular family events. The Silly-Face-Off. The Brother Hold. The Sneaky Bunny Ears. It also brought out the Dad Dash, the skillful run around all the furniture and into place in the back row before the 10 second timer went off. And after all the proper and un-proper family shots were taken, it would disappear back into its gadget-filled bag, to live its life tucked into the top of the closet. Out of the limelight, the camera was forgotten to most, but not to Nolan. The seed was planted, leaving the desire to get his hands on a camera to develop over the coming years.
Once afforded the freedom that comes during your few years in college, and the financial windfalls from a part time job, Nolan began to experiment with cameras. At first it was just the bottom of the line disposable film cameras, trying to gain unique perspectives from the floor of the dorm room, and trying out black and white film. Eventually he bought his first digital camera, a Fuji Finepix 2400z. It was beast of a camera, sporting a 2.11mp sensor and 3x optical zoom, it truly was an amazing camera, if only for a few moments.
The trend of buying and trying the point and shoots continued until the Great Tax Return of 2007. It was at this time he made the grand decision to spend the lot on a DSLR, a Nikon D60, and a great decision it turned out to be. The new camera took the filter off the previously darkened world of photography. The next few years would take him on a journey that would allow him to explore that world, and the physical world. Traveling with his job around the United States and Australia, his camera went with him everywhere, and he learned as much as he could along the way. Never one to shudder at new challenges, he tried his hand at a variety of styles and techniques where ever he went, all the while developing his focus and his passion for photography.
Today, Nolan lives in Tweed Heads, NSW Australia, and is well versed in a variety of photography styles. While his main love has drawn him to wildlife photography, he is also skilled in landscape, nature, portrait, and event photography.
